A Distinctive Look, Sporty Ride, and Spacious Interior
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer holds a unique position in the busy mid-size SUV segment. Its appearance is both sporty and bold, and it matches this with nimble handling that complements its attractive design. Beyond this, it boasts practicality with its roomy interior consisting of two rows of seats and a generously sized cargo space. Buyers will be pleased with the wide assortment of optional features. Serving as the starting engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder, and the standard setup is front-wheel drive with the option for all-wheel drive. An additional V-6 engine is available, offering robust power and an appealing sound.
Engine & Performance
The Blazer offers a standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 228 horsepower, and an optional 3.6-liter V-6 with 308 horsepower. Both engine options come with a nine-speed automatic transmission and can be paired with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The front-wheel-drive version with the turbo-four provides sufficient power for urban and highway driving. On the other hand, the V-6 engine delivers impressive acceleration and instills confidence for passing maneuvers on the highway. In our testing, the Blazer RS achieved a 0-60 mph time of 6.6 seconds, showcasing its ability for quick overtaking and merging onto busy highways.
The four-cylinder Blazer can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the V-6 version can handle up to 4,500 pounds, making it versatile for towing needs. With steady composure and precise steering, the Blazer stands out as one of the best-handling crossovers in Chevrolet's lineup. It offers confidence and responsiveness on winding roads, especially in the RS model, which features distinct steering and suspension tuning.
Interior & Comfort
The interior design of the Blazer features an intuitive climate control system with round air vents positioned beneath the central control stack. These vents can be easily adjusted by twisting them to control temperature settings. The interior also showcases several aesthetically pleasing visual touches like soft-touch plastics and a two-tone color scheme.
While the higher-end models receive leather surfaces and more extravagant materials, the mid-level trims exhibit a greater presence of less expensive trim pieces and a predominantly grayscale color palette. Nevertheless, the Blazer does provide appealing features, including ambient interior lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
When it comes to cargo space, the Blazer offers versatility with 31 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats, expanding to 64.2 cubic feet with the seats folded. The second row of seating offers 60/40 split-folding flat. Furthermore, there are various storage solutions for smaller items, including ledges on the front door panels that are ideal for holding smartphones. Additionally, a decent-sized cubby is situated at the front of the center console, while the center console bin offers good space, albeit without built-in organization. The rear seat, however, provides less storage, featuring a bin at the back of the center console and small door pockets.
Technology
Each Blazer is equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, along with wireless charging support for compatible smartphones. The system boasts an appealing interface that is user-friendly, although the addition of a rotary controller would be beneficial to minimize distractions.
Standard features include a pair of USB ports positioned at the front and rear of the center console, with some models offering a 120-volt outlet for added convenience and remote start. Other popular features like wireless charging, and adaptive cruise control are available. Furthermore, the Blazer can be fitted with a Wi-Fi hotspot, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, Voice Service, and integrated navigation, enhancing its connectivity and entertainment capabilities.
